გაიცანი – შმაგი ლიკლიკაძე We Too, Will Fade

ზუმის ინტერვიუს წინ სასოწარმკვეთ საცობში ვარ გაჭედილი, თან We Too Will Fade-ს ახალ ალბომს ვუსმენს და ნოსტალგიას ვყავარ შეპყრობილი. შეიძლება იფიქროთ, რომ ეს იმის ბრალია, რომ ბავშვობაში დიდი მოყვარული ვიყავი ამ ჟანრის,მაგრამ შეცდებით – საქმე იმაშია, რომ We Too Will Fade-ს მელოდიები აჩენს ამ შეგრძნებებს, ისინი თითქოს გვეპატიჟიან თავიანთ ნოსტალგიაში, სხვა თუ არაფერი, მათი ერთ-ერთი კომპოზიციის დასახელებაა – „In the End We All Wish We Were Back Home/საბოლოოდ ყველა ვნატრობთ რომ სახლში ვიყოთ“ და ნამდვილად, ნეტა ახლა მართლა სახლში ვიყო ამ საცობის მაგივრად,

• სალამი შმაგი! ბოდიში დავაგვიანე!
• არაა პრობლემა, დრო მაქვს

შმაგი Still Emo მაისურით და მომხივლელი ღიმილით მესალმება მიუნხენიდან, ასეთ თბილად შეხვედრას ნამდვილად არ ველოდი

შმაგი ლიკლიკაძე ქართველი მუსიკოსია, რომელიც წლების წინ გადავიდა მიუნხენში საცხოვრებლად; ნორმალურია, რომ პირველი ჩვენი საუბარი მიეძღვნა იმის, თუ რანაირად მოვახერხეთ და ერთმანეთს ვერსად გადავეყარეთ, თბილისში ხომ ყველა-ყველას იცნობს; საერთო მეგობრებზე საუბრის შემდეგ კი საქმეზეც გადავედით:

• საკმაოდ რთული გადაწყვეტილება იყო, რა თქმა უნდა, ახალი საწყისების შეგრძნება მომხიბვლელი იყო, მაგრამ ამასთანავე ნოსტალგიის შეგრძნება უკვე თბილისშივე გამიჩნდა. მახსოვს, სანამ მიუნხენში წამოვიდოდი, მე და ჩემი ძმა ბათუმში, ოდნავ ნასვამები, ბათუმის სანაპიროზე ვწერდით და ვღიღინებდით  “In The End We All Wish We Were Back Home”.

და რამდენი წელია რაც გერმანიაში ხარ?

• უჰ, დიდი ხანია, 6? 7 წელი? არც მახსოვს კარგად

გერმანიაში ლეიბლის პოვნის პროცედურაც გაგვიზიარე

• Midsummer Records გერმანული ლეიბლია, რომელსაც მეილზე მივწერე თხოვნით, რომ გვეთანამშრომლა, თავიდან უარი მომივიდა, მაგრამ არ შევეშვი სანამ არ დამთანხმდნენ

ვიმედოვნებ, სხვა ქართველი მუსიკოსები მოგბაძავენ სიჯიუტეში. მუსიკალური კარიერა აქედან დაიწყე ხომ?

• კი, თბილისში ბენდ Scratch The Floorში ვუკრავდი, დღემდე გვაქვს მიმოწერა მე და თორნიკე ცორიკაშვილს, ბენდის ვოკალისტს, მას აზრს ხშირად ვეკითხები We Too, Will Fadeს კომპოზიციებზე. ის ერთ-ერთი უნიჭიერესი მუსიკოსია, რომელთანაც მქონია შეხება საქართელოში და ზოგადად მიმაჩნია, რომ Scratch The Floor ის ერთ-ერთი ქართული ბენდია, რომელიც მუდმივად ცდილობს საზღვრების გარღვევას.

ვგონებ, ორივე შევთანმდებით იმ აზრზე რომ საქართველოში მეტალ ბენდები ბევრად უფრო საინტერესო არის, ვიდრე იყო წლების წინ

• კი კი, მახსოვს წლების წინ, რაც უფრო ხმამაღლა უკრავდი მუსიკას – უფრო კარ მეტალ ბენდად ითვლებოდი. გერმანიაში ბევრ შემოქმედ ადამიანს შეხვდები, რომლებიც მუდმივად ცდილობენ ჟანრის ჩარჩოებში არ მოექცნენ და მუდმივად ექსპერიმენტს ატარებენ; ისინი ნაკლებად ფიქრობენ წარმატებაზე, მათი მიზანია თვით გამოხატვა. ის დიდი ბენდები, რომლებიც  საქართველომდე აღწევს, უკვე დიდი ხანია ექსპერიმენტებს შეეშვნენ, რაც მგონია რომ ცუდი მესიჯია ბევრი მუსიკოსისთვის.

ანუ, თვლი რომ საქართველოში მეტი ექსპერიმენტებია საჭირო?

• რაღაც მხრივ კი, როგორც უკვე აღვნიშნე, ბენდი Scratch The Floor – მათ სიმღერების წერა დაიწყეს ქართულად, რაც საკმაოდ რთული საქმეა და დიდ პატივისცემას იმსახურებს ჩემი მხრიდან. მე როცა თბილისში ვიყავი მსგავსი ექსპერიმენტების ფუფუნება არ გვქონდა

შენს წერის მანერაზე რას გვეტყვი? როგორ წერ მუსიკას? განსაკუთრებით Covid-19ის პირობებში?

• კოვიდთან გამკლავება მარტივი არ ყოფილა, ერთმანეთთან და მეგობრებთან ფიზიკური კომუნიკაცია გვენატრება. გამიმართლა და ჩემს ვოკალისტთან ერთად ვცხოვრობ ერთ სახლში და ეს მუსიკის წერის პროცესებს ამარტივებს, სხვა მხრივ უბრალოდ ჩანაწერებს ვაკეთებთ, ერთმანეთს ვუგზავნით და ასე ვავსებთ კომპოზიციებს.

მეგობრები აღნიშნე, თუ სწორად მაქვს ინფორმაცია, თქვენი მეგობრებიც დაგეხმარნენ კომპოზიციებზე

• კი კი, ალბომის ჩაწერის დროს ჩვენი რამოდენიმე გერმანელი მეგობარი და ნაცნობები მოვიწვიეთ და ჯგუფური ვოკალის ჩაწერაში დავიხმარეთ. ძალიან ლამაზი ექსპერიმენტი გამოდგა, ჯამში 10 ადამიანი ჩავიწერეთ, ახალი EP-ის 2 ტრეკში შეგიძლია მათი ხმა გაიგონო

ღმერთებო, რა კარგი იქნებოდა ჩემს საყვარელ ბენდს რომ ჩაწერაზე მივეწვიე!

გამოცნობაში არ გეთვლება, ინსტაგრამის ფოტოებში გაქვს ნანახი ჩემი ზედა!

მას მერე რაც Deftones-ის ჩვენი საყვარელი ალბომები განვიხილეთ, შმაგის Bring me the Horizon-ზე ჩავეკითხე.

რას იტყვი, BMTH მოგწონს?

შმაგი ენთუზიაზმით აღსავსე თვალებით მაგიდიდან BMTH-ის 2019 წლის  ალბომ AMO-ს ვინილს იღებს და სიამაყით მაჩვენებს. მეც მაშინვე ვუხსენებ, რომ We Too, Will Fade ჟღერადობით BMTH-ს მაგონებს.

• ოჰო! ძალიან კარგი კომპლიმენტია და მიღებულია. ჩემი აზრით ერთ-ერთი ყველაზე საინტერესო და ინოვატორი ბენდია.

We Too will Fade-ის ახალი EP სახელწოდებით “Everything Falls Apart as it Should” 4 დეკემბერს გამოვიდა და ჩემი აზრით, ამ წლის ერთ-ერთი საინტერესო პროექტია მის ჟანრში.

ბენდის ვოკალისტის სიმღერის მანერა  2020 წელში დაგროვებულ სიბრაზეს თქვენს მაგივრად ამოიტანს თქვენივე ორგანიზმიდან. გიტარა მელოდიურია და ცოტათი პოსტ-როკული, სიზმრისეული ჟღერადობა აქვს. ჩემი საყვარელი ტრეკია „I Tried My Best” სადაც დრამერი მის სრულ ტალანტს გვანახებს, კომპოზიცია იდეალურადაა შეკრული და ერთ ლამაზ და სრულ ისტორიას ჰგავს, პატარა პაუზებით, მუსიკა თითოქს ამოსუნთქვის საშუალებას გვაძლებს, და რაც მთავარია, EP-ის ბოლო მესიჯი – Everything Falls Apart As it Should.

ბენდის შემოქმედება ერთი დიდი მოგზარობაა ნოსტალგიასა და ლამაზ მელოდიებში,

ვუსურვებ მათ დამსახურებულ წარმატებას!

Just before my zoom interview I’m desperately stuck in the traffic, listening to We Too, Will Fade’s album and thinking about my past. You might think that it’s because I was a big metal fan when I was younger, but you will be wrong – it’s because of the band itself, their music, lyrics and even way of naming their tracks is filled with nostalgia, “In The End We All Wish We Were Back Home” and oh lord, do I wish I was at home instead of this traffic.

– Hey Shmagi! I’m sorry to be late, Traffic nowadays is crazy!

– No worries, I have time

Here we are, Shmagi with his charming smile and Still Emo t-shirt shines on our video call all the way from Munich, I have to say, I’m a little star struck.

Shmagi Liklikadze is a Georgian musician, who many years ago moved to Munich from Tbilisi, so it’s no wonder that first thing we started talking about is how we managed to never come across each other, we are both in same friend groups and it’s Tbilisi, everyone knows everyone, but later we started getting down to the business:

So, tell me about moving to Germany

– It was a hard decision, I was excited for the new beginnings, but at the same time, I had the nostalgic feeling of home before even leaving. I remember writing the song “In The End We All Wish We Were Back Home” with my brother, back in Batumi, little tipsy, sitting on the beach of the Black Sea and just writing it.

how long have you been there exactly?

– Oh god, it was so many years ago, I can barely remember, 6? 7? I don’t know

And you managed to get signed by a label there, right?

– Fortunately enough – yes! There’s this Label called Midsummer Records in Germany and I sent them a kind email asking if they would like to sign us, they said no. I asked again even more nicely and then they agreed.

I hope Georgian musicians will also be as Persistent as you. you did start your musical career from here though, right?

 – Yeah, I was in a band called Scratch The Floor there. I still ask one of my old band members and a good friend Tornike Tsorikashvili of his opinion about songs we write for We Too, Will Fade. He’s one of the most talented musicians I’ve ever come across not only in Georgia, but also in many other countries and I do believe Scratch The Floor is one of those Georgian bands that constantly push the borders of the scene forward over there.

Definitely, I think we can both agree that metal scene in Georgia now is way more interesting than It was way back when you were here

 – Yeah, way back when I was there, it was all very loud, louder you were – better you were as a metal band. In Germany, you’ll meet a lot of creative people, willing to bend the genre and experiment; they don’t focus on success as much as they do on self-expression. The bands that Georgians know are already out there, they have achieved the greatness and hardly experiment anymore, which I think might have a negative influence on Georgian musicians.

So, you’d say that Georgians lack experiments?

 – In a way yeah, of course there are bands like as I mentioned, Scratch The Floor, who started writing songs in Georgian and I admire that, it’s not an easy work, but from what I remember way back when I was there, It did lack experiments.

What about you? How do you write songs? Especially during Covid-19?

– Covid-19 has been tough, we miss communicating with each other and most importantly – with our friends. It’s good that I actually started living with my vocalist so that makes it easier, other than that we exchange our recordings and add details we think would be appropriate

You mentioned friends, I know you had an interesting announcement when you were recording an album

– Oh yes, while recording an album, we invited our friends and people from Munich’s scene to join us while recording and asked them to be a part of group vocals. It was a beautiful experiment, in total we recorded 10 people, you can hear them on 2 tracks from a new EP.

Oh damn, I wish my favorite bands invited me during recording!

– Let me Guess, Deftones?

After discussing the best and the worst albums of Deftones, I ask him about Bring me the Horizon,

So, do you like them?

Shmagi enthusiastically runs to his cupboard and gets a Vinyl of album AMO, 2019 I tell him how their music resembles to BMTH for me,

– Oh, that’s great, that’s a good compliment, I’ll take it, and I think they are one of the best and innovative bands out there.

So far! Just wait till your new EP goes big!

We Too Will Fade’s new EP Everything Falls Apart as it Should was released on 4^th of December and in my humble is opinion, is one of the best EP’s in this Genre I had the chance to listen to.

The Vocals of the band – Vlad, is almost relatable, considering the Covid-19 that makes you want to scream your lungs out and he is definitely doing it for us and better than we could have ever done it. Guitar is Melodic and gives a feel of a Post-rock, Dreamy sound. My personal favorite has to be the second Track “I Tried my Best” where drums are showing their full talent, entire track feels like a complete, beautifully done story,  With small pauses, as if it gives you time to breathe out, and most important message and third track of an EP – Everything Falls Apart as it should. That’s the human nature, isn’t it?

Entire discography of the band Is a big trip to nostalgia and beautiful melodies,

I wish them all the best and big success, which is well deserved.
